Top weekend breaks - days out and short breaks
This is our travel guide to days out, short breaks, holidays, trips and short excursions in Uk cities, Europe and beyond, provided in the hope that some of them might inspire you to get out and see new places, and to maybe offer some suggestions of things to see and do. Its basically a mini travel guide and a tourist resource to help people discover great weekends, cheap breaks, holiday ideas, good days out, free events and find places to go. If you're looking for a romantic venue, or something different to do, or maybe just somewhere to escape to for a while hopefully there's something here that will give you some ideas. Hopefully I'll be able to add many more excursions during 2009.
This really has been a year for some top weekend breaks, days out and short breaks, and I wanted to put them all together as a sort of mini guide for getting out and about and seeing stuff. Top Weekends concentrates on a few of the main trips and vacations I've taken over the past year, in places such as Leeds, Nottingham, Edinburgh, Barcelona, Paris, Alicante and Beijing, so it might seem a bit of an odd mix, and I'm sure it will only get odder and more of a hotchpotch as I add more locations and venues over the coming years.
There are still some nights out and places visited which don't get a mention here and I'm hoping to add them shortly as time permits. These include the Leeds Food Festival, Nottingham Castle, some amazing hill walks in the Murcian countryside and finally the penultimate Caberet Heaven in Leeds this year. I didn't make it to the last ever Caberet Heaven, shame on me, but the next to last one featured some absolutely great acts and I discovered Mik Artistik and his Half Man Half Biscuit-esque style of daft dole rock, which really made the evening for me.
