Wollaton Hall and Wollaton Deer Park, Nottingham
Wollaton Hall is a recently restored late Elizabethan manor house. The Hall reopened in April this year after renovation work. The house was originally the family residence of the Willoughbys during the reign of Elizabeth I and continued in their posession right through to the 1920s. Wollaton Hall is a Grade 1 listed building.
Wollaton Deer Park
Wollaton Park consists of 300 acres of parkland and is the home to both fallow deer and red deer. We didn't see any deer during our walk but there was plenty of deer poo in evidence. It was a Sunday in early November when we went for our walk out on Wollaton Park this year. Its an especially good time to visit the Park in the midst of Autumn and when the lake is full of visiting Canada geese. Its well worth walking all the way around to the far side of the lake as there are some spectacular views of Wollaton Hall from across the lake.
I haven't been inside Wollaton house, but according to Ness there used to be a big stuffed and well-endowed gorilla in there, and that was the first willy she ever saw!

Visiting Canada geese flock to Wollaton's lake every autumn and there are native wild fowl in abundance all year round
